After Graduation

Currently I'm working for the Research Division of British Telecom known as BTexact on a Post Graduate Research Placement. Most of the research done at BTexact are related to Telecommunications Engineering and Information Technology. It is among the "Top 5" research institutes in the world.

I worked for Computational Intelligence Group of the Intelligent Systems Lab. I was involved in two main projects.  

• IPAF - Intelligent Personal Assistant Framework

• IDEA - Intelligent Directory Enquiry Assistant

Both of these projects were Intelligent Data Analysis and Presentation tools which involved a lot of Artificial Intelligence Techniques. The Technologies involved were mostly JAVA, BEA Web Logic Application Server, JSP, XML, Java Beans, and Oracle.

Lanka Internet Services Limited - 2002    (http://lisl.lanka.net/)

Held the position of "Head of LIIT" at the IT resource center of Lanka Internet, known as LIIT - Lanka Internet Institute of Information Technology.

LIIT also catered as an IT Training Center for Internal Staff as well as for people from other companies. I was directly involved in designing, organizing, and carrying out Training Programs, Public Workshops and Seminars.

Undergraduate In-plant Training Placement

BC Computer Systems (Pvt) Ltd. - 2000 / 2001   (http://www.bccomputersltd.lk/)

I worked for BC Computer Systems on an  in-plant  training placement which was a requirement of my University Degree. Projects that I was entrusted with and successfully completed include the following :

• Designing a Voice / Fax / Data Answering Machine for the company

• Implementing a server to dialup customer sites for remote troubleshooting

• Implementing a Video Conferencing System

Apart from these in house projects I was involved in a lot of large Scale Network Implementation Projects. I gained a vast knowledge about Designing, Installing, Troubleshooting, Performance analysis and Maintaining Computer Networks during this placement. 

Pre-University Work Experience

Vallibel Holdings - 1996 / 1997

After my A-level and Before starting my Degree I worked as a System Analyst / Programmer for Vallibel Holdings  for one year. Vallibel Holdings has interests in shipping, apparel retailing and mini hydro power generation.
