Presently I’m on a Post Graduate Research Placement at BTexact – The Research Center of British Telecom in Suffolk, UK. I started my contract in October 2002 and it is due to finish in end of  September 2003. Achieved a ‘Second class Upper Division’ for the ‘Bachelor of Science in Engineering’ Degree at the University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka in 2002. Represented Sri Lanka at SEARCC International Software Competition 1993 held in Hong Kong. 1st Runner Up in overall country rankings. Held the post of Vice President of the Electrical Engineering Society (EESoc) of the University of Moratuwa in 2001 / 2002. Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS-UK). Qualified in BCS IT qualifications(Certificate, Diploma and the Advanced Graduate Diploma) Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers (MIEE-UK). Interests - Enjoy leisure traveling a lot. So far have traveled to Hong Kong, Salzburg, Innsbruck (Austria), Munich, Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and all throughout England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Represented Sri Lanka at the SEARCC  1993  INTERNATIONAL SOFTWARE  COMPETITION held in Hong Kong in October 1993.  Captained the Ananda College Software Team at the National Schools Software Competition organized by the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) and ICT at the University of Colombo from 1991 to 1993. Won the National Schools Software Championship in the years 1991 and 1993.
Served as the Vice President of the Electrical Engineering Society ( EESoc ) of the University of  Moratuwa in 2001 / 2002 which is a professional body consisting of Electrical Engineering students, Senior Academics and Graduate Engineers in the field.  Held the post of  the Secretary of IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) Local Committee.  Served as the Electrical Engineering Field Representative during the third and the final year of the University. Was a committee member of the Rotaract Club of the University of Moratuwa.
Currently I’m working for the Research Division of British Telecom – BTexact, on a Post Graduate Research Placement. I am involved in the following main projects while working with the Computational Intelligence Group in the Intelligent Systems Lab. My year contract is due to expire in end of September 2003. IPAF – Intelligent Personal Assistant Framework IDEA – Intelligent Directory Inquiry Assistant  Worked in the Capacity of ‘Head of LIIT’ (Lanka Internet Institute of Information Technology) for six months since graduation in March 2002 until End of September 2002. Work involved were Administrative functions of LIIT – which is the IT resource centre for Lanka Internet Services Limited and conducting IT Training and Workshops for the staff as well as outsiders. Underwent the ‘In-plant Training’ (a requirement of my University Degree) at BC Software Systems ( Pvt.) Ltd. for six months since November 2000. Projects that I was entrusted with and successfully completed include the following : Designing a Voice / Fax / Data Answering Machine for the company Implementing a server to dialup customer sites for remote troubleshooting Implementing a Video Conferencing System Worked as a System Analyst / Programmer for Vallibel Lanka ( Pvt.) Ltd. for one year untill I started my Degree in 1997.

Final Year Project Designed and implemented a “Smart Card Based Digital Energy Meter” which eliminates the necessity to visit each and every electricity customer by the Electricity Distribution Company in order read the meter and prepare the bill. Held the position of  the President in 1994 / 95 and the position of  the Treasurer in 1993 / 94 of the Computer Club of Ananda College.  Was a Committee Member of the Young Inventors’ Club. Represented the College at the “EDEX ’94" Educational Exhibition held in Royal  College. Held the Membership of the Chess Club, Radio Club, Mathematics Club ( Senior Section ), Chemistry Club, Aquatic Club and Table Tennis Club of  Ananda College.
